ALL ABOUT ME!
Martina began dancing at the age of two at the Center for Dance in Westmont, Illinois. Martina grew up at the studio with her two sisters by her side dancing the days away. From the moment she stepped on stage, she fell in love with performing. Martina grew up training in all styles of dance because her teacher, Ashley Fitzpatrick, always told her that a great dancer is a versatile dancer. Along with competitions, Martina would spend her summers training at various intensive programs. She attended Joffrey summer intensive, NYCDA summer intensive, and Broadway Bound at Oklahoma City University. After competing with the Center for Dance for 13 years, she took her final bow with the company and teachers that raised her. Dancing has always been Martina’s first love and will always be a part of her life.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
A TRIPLE THREAT
Martina didn’t just have a love for dance, she loved musical theater as well! Martina grew up performing in productions with BAM Theatre! She started her musical theater journey at 5 years old! She performed in Willy Wonka as an oompa loompa, Beauty and the Beast as the rose, and The Little Mermaid as Flounder. Starting musical theater at a young age led Martina to follow in her sister's footsteps to continue it in high school at Nazareth Academy, under the direction of Kim White. She performed in Sister Act as ensemble, High School Musical as ensemble, Anything Goes as Chastity, and even got the opportunity to perform and choreograph the production of Frozen Jr. as she played Sven. Martina is thankful to the Nazareth Academy Drama department for all their love and support throughout the years. Martina was also able to be a part of the Wanda Bass Music School’s production of “In the Heights” at OCU. She was so excited to work closely with Luis Salgado and Alana Martin. Martina is very thankful for both of them and that experience.
Oklahoma City University became Martina’s dream school after visiting in 2018. She fell in love with the amount of dance training she would get and the school's emphasis on tap, jazz and ballet. Martina has gotten the opportunity to grow as a dancer, performer, and person at OCU. She has gotten to take classes such as ballet, tap, jazz, rhythm tap, partnering, theater dance, and even multiple choreography courses by the most amazing professors. Martina has had the amazing opportunity to be a part of the Star Dance Company her last 2 years and perform in the “Holiday Spectacular” as well as “MOVE!”. Martina just graduated with a Bachelors of Performing Arts in Dance Performance. She is very thankful for all the knowledge and connections OCU has brought her so far.
OCU
PHI MU
Martina grew up very close to her two sisters and as they moved away, they encouraged her to go through recruitment to find a home away from home. She is so glad that she took that jump and ended up joining Phi Mu Epsilon Epsilon. Martina has learned to be a better leader, and person, and also find more confidence. Through her time in Phi Mu, she was able to hold the position of Homecoming Chair where she was the fearless leader in planning all of OCU’s homecoming week for Phi Mu. Phi Mu has also helped Martina discover a new love, Public Relations. Martina was also the PR chair for 2 years running instagram, facebook, and making graphics for the chapter to post. This has allowed Martina to get creative and add more skills to her skill set. She is thankful and grateful to all of her advisors and sisters alumni and present for all the support and love they have given her.
